Electricity Rates Rises in AP

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a five per cent overall increase in power tariff, the GO was released on yesterday. The hike in electricity charges will not be applied to all industrial consumers, domestic consumers consuming less than 200 units per month.

APERC Chairman G Bhavani Prasad addressed the meet to announce the complete details of increasing electricity charges, he said, “The commission said it had allowed only 5 per cent increase in the tariff as against the 6 per cent hike proposed by the AP discoms. Poor people were consciously excluded from the tariff hike as they cannot be burdened with additional charges, where the commission has increased the charge after 200 units only”.
