Left Parties Launch Fast Seeking Special Status

The Left parties along with the Andhra Intellectuals Forum (AIF) on Sunday launched protest fasts demanding granting of Special Category Status (SCS) besides implementation of all the promises made to the State as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. The CPI-led 'Prathyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti' along with the CPI(M) and AIF besides others like actor Sivaji launched fast with several other people

Speaking at the venue, CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna said that the State government had duped people by not even bothering to ask let alone demand the implementation of all the promises made during bifurcation of the State. He said the TDP should made it clear whether it was ready to fight with the Centre as the latter made it clear that granting SCS was not possible.

CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu sought an explanation from the TDP for the existing situation in which the State was losing out on all fronts in spite of the plethora of promises made in the wake of bifurcation. He said people need to know whether the TDP was also part of the plot to dupe people. Mr. Madhu said the two Ministers from the TDP were continuing in the Union Cabinet despite the Centre categorically refusing to grant SCS to the State.
