A 32-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader was brutally murdered by assailants in Outer Delhi's Begumpur Extension area on Monday. Delhi Pradesh Purvanchal Shakti Wing Secretary Dhirendra Ishwar was hacked to death and his private parts chopped off by unidentified goons. The deceased body of Direndra was found in a field at 6 am — barely 100 metres away from his new home in Begum Vihar.
According to police, Dhirendra had gone for a meeting in Nangloi at around 4 pm Sunday along with another AAP worker, Shri Krishna. He had last spoken to his mother at about 7.15 pm, after which his phone remained switched off.
“We received a call at about 6 am Monday that a severed body was found in a field at Begum Vihar. The body bore both sharp as well as blunt force injuries. The face and private parts were hacked off," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.
He added that police had found Dhirendra's bike key, wallet and mobile charger on his person, but his phone was missing. Police are also looking into Krishna's role and are tracking Dhirendra's phone.
“We called Krishna in for questioning and have checked his credentials. We are also looking into his call detail records to ascertain his movement Sunday night," added the officer.
“The crime indicates a strong hatred towards the victim… It looks like a case of personal enmity. There are injuries which appear to have been inflicted by both a sharp and blunt object. There are hacking marks and indications of the body being beaten with a blunt object near the head, abdominal region and below the pelvic region," said an officer.
Police were yet to ascertain whether Mr Ishwar was killed near his house or was he killed somewhere else and then the body dumped at the swamp near his house.
