Hyderabad: The BJP would extensively campaign about the developmental schemes announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day to take them to the masses, a senior party leader said on Monday.
"BJP will take all the developmental schemes announced by PM Modi on Independence Day to the masses and educate them and see that they will be implemented in letter and spirit," party's national vice president Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters here.
"The party will prepare a report on how the schemes are implemented and the same will be submitted to the Prime Minister and government," he said.
Suggesting that the Telangana Chief Minister should take Opposition also into confidence when announcing massive programmes such as the day-long survey of Telangana residents, he said the information collected in the survey should not be used to "blackmail" the public.
"Survey should be a voluntary disclosure of information. Even High Court also commented on the same lines. The survey information should not be used for blackmail purpose. If that happens, it is very dangerous. So the government's intention should be made clear to the public. It is the government's responsibility," the Lok Sabha MP said.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had yesterday said that the intensive household survey, to be carried out tomorrow, is aimed at ensuring that the benefits of government programmes reach the targeted sections.
Rao had dismissed allegations that the survey has been planned with a view to identifying Seemandhra natives.
Meanwhile, Dattatreya welcomed the recent talks between the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and said such meetings should be held frequently held to iron out the differences.
