Cash-rich Indian Premiere League (IPL) has proven to be unlucky for a lot of bigwigs. From Lalit Modi to Sunanda Pushkar, Vijay Mallya, Raj Kundra, N Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan, Deccan Chronicle's Venkatram Reddy and Sahara's Subrata Roy, A lot of big names lost all the fame and reputation they earned for years.

BCCI under the chairmanship of Lalit Modi began IPL in the year 2017 to encourage local talent in the country by giving them opportunities in the T20 format. Film Celebs, Businessmen and Politicians competed to own the IPL Franchises. There is strong buzz about IPL being used to covert Black Money into White. Even involvement of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the betting and spot-fixing scandal has damaged the reputation of the tourney.

While Vijay Mallya obtained loans to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore from various banks and obtained the name of defaulter, Sahara Group's Subrata Roy cheated thousands of Investors and has been behind the bars for three years. On the other hand, DC chairman Venkatrami Reddy obtained loan by submitting fake documents. Cases were booked against N Srinivasan, Meiyappan and Raj Kundra for illegal activities. Kochi IPL Franchise co-owner Sunanda Pushkar faced black money charges and even passed away under mysterious circumstances. Lalit Modi has been hiding in a foreign country to escape interrogation over corruption charges. Last but not the least, Preity Zinta had an ugly fight with her ex-beau and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab in the stadium.
