Ever since Telangana state was formed, the floral festival of state Bathukamma has achieved nation wide popularity and also being performed at various international platforms, all thanks to Telangana Jagruthi chief and Nizamabad MP Kavitha who's been branding it throughout. Also, the state government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao allocated 15 Crore budget for celebration of Bathukamma in all districts of Telangana.
Interestingly, the Bathukamma festival has achieved a rare and unique feat on Saturday evening. The release quoted Jayachandra, a representative of the Guinness Book, as saying that the event, with participation of 9,292 women, surpassed the Onam dance organised in Kerala in 2015 in which 5,015 women had participated.
Confirming the Guinness record, IT minister KTR said, "That's some sight! Telangana has started its cultural renaissance in style; 'Batukamma' - Celebration of Life. Guinness record I am told." The Telangana government has declared 'Bathukamma' as a state festival. The state Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Tourism Minister Chandulal and several other public representatives and other officials attended the event.
