A Panchaloha Idol of Sri Medha Dakshinamurthy was stolen from Kasi Viswanath Swamy Temple in Venkatagiri town of Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The robbery took place in the early hours of Saturday.Sources say, Venkatagiri Raja has built the ancient temple of Kasi Viswanath Swamy about 300 years ago.
Sai Krishna Yachendra who is the scion of Venkatagiri Rajas say the stolen idol which weighs 100 kgs is three centuries old and its priceless.Soon after the robbery came to light, Cops rushed to the spot with finger print experts and sniffer dogs for tracing the culprits. Police suspect someone who knew every detail about the ancient temple might be part of the robbery. Investigation is under progress!
