Announcing that vacancies in the Medical and Health Department would be filled soon, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Friday advised job aspirants not to approach agents and touts, as the recruitment process would be held in a transparent manner basing on merit alone. Addressing a press conference after inspecting the arrangements for the public meeting scheduled for March 6 here in which BJP national president Amit Shah would be the chief guest, Dr. Srinivas said that over 1,400 doctors were already recruited. Still, there was shortage of staff, he added.
Referring to shortage of infrastructure, the Minister said that a medical equipment manufacturer park would be set up in Visakhapatnam on April 8, which would help government hospitals overcome the problem. “As of now, we are depending on imported equipment that is a costly affair. In addition to the cost factor, there is an immediate need to undertake repairs to the existing equipment," he observed. Stating that the government was keen on improving facilities to patients visiting government hospitals, Dr. Srinivas said that free ultrasound scanning facility for pregnant women was on the cards.
