Mayuri - Story

Mayuri is set against the backdrop of a spooky forest location called 'Mayavanam'. A lot of research is done and a movie is also made about this location which is haunted by the soul of a married woman named 'Maya'.On the other hand, Mayuri (Nayanatara), is a single mother who works as a junior artist in Ad films. One fine day, she comes across this much talked about movie and decides to watch it.As soon as the movie begins, Mayuri gets a huge shock and finds out that the proceedings in the film have a shocking resemblance to her real life. How is Mayuri related to these incidents ? What consequences does she face after watching the film ? That forms the rest of the story.a

Mayuri - Star Performance
Nayanthara steals the show. She has shouldered the movie on her shoulders. Her role as a single mother and a scared lady was top-notch. No other could have done that role so perfectly. Nayanthara proves only she can do a full-fledged female centric movie. Aari is slowly evolving as an actor. This time he has done a good role and has done basic home work to essay role of an artist. His body language also speaks a lot. The cute baby is the next show-stopper. Her cute expressions and eyes speak a lot. Robo Shankar appears in few scenes. Chandramouli, Mime Gopi are also part of the cast.
Mayuri - Technical Team
Ron Ethan Yohaan's Music is the biggest plus. The debut composer knows when to mute and when to provide the sound. Lots of thrills and chills provided by the composer. Sathyan Sooryan's camera work also creates some tensed moments. Dim lighting and some angles give us scary moments. No wonder the distributor came forward to pay 5 lakhs prize for those who watch the movie without drop in pulse and Blood pressure. But the movie fails in screenplay. The sluggish screenplay is the real ghost. The second half has few scenes which will take us by surprise and they are worthy. But before that we lose patience and interest on the movie due to the slow paced screenplay.
Mayuri - Analysis
The movie is another horror movie where the director has tried to break the usual commercial cliches. But he has failed in the screenplay department. But the sound engineering and technical aspects like editing and cinematography carry the movie throughout. The movie doesn't have any comedy or song sequences too. A different attempt indeed
