Kamal Request Filmfare Org. To Encourage Young Talent

Universal Hero Kamal Haasan is known for experimenting with different and unique subjects. These experiments helped him winning several prominent awards. So far, Kamal has won 4 National Awards and 19 Filmfare Awards.

With 7 submissions, Kamal Haasan has starred in the highest number of films submitted by India for the Academy Award Best Foreign Language Film. Kamal received the Kalaimamani Award in 1979, the Padma Shri Award in 1990 and the Padma Bhushan Award in 2014.

Interesting fact is after winning Filmfare for Hey Ram in 2000; Kamal Haasan requested Filmfare organization not to consider him for nominations further. He even wrote a letter to them regarding this. Apparently, Kamal wanted to encourage young talent in Tamil cinema, since awards aren't a big thing for him.

Kamal Haasan's elder daughter Shruti Haasan also won a Filmfare Award for the film Race Gurram last year. The father and the daughter are currently working together for a new film Sabhash Naidu, which marks their first collaboration.
