Legendary singer S Janaki started her career in movies as a playback singer in the Tamil movie Vidhiyin Vilayattu in 1957 and rendered nearly 48,000 songs in 60 years. After winning four National Awards and 32 state film awards, in languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Oriya, and refusing to accept the Padma Bhushan in 2013, finally she has decided to call it quits. She has chosen to quit after rendering the lullaby track Ammapoovinu from the Anoop Menon, Meera Jasmine-starrer 10 Kalpanakal that is composed by Mithun Eshwar."I would like to now rest, relax and leave my career behind", said the 78 year old singer, on this occasion. She needs a legendary farewell, not this simple, isn't it?
