Popular actor Ahuti Prasad passed away at a private hospital in Secunderabad on Sunday morning.The 56-yearold had been diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago and had been undergoing treatment ever since. A native of Koduru, Krishna district, his real name is Adusumilli Janardhan Varaprasad.
After completing his education he moved to Hyderabad and learned acting under the tutelage of late director V Madhusudhan Rao and debuted in Telugu cinema in 1986 with Vikram. But it was his performance in the film Ahuti that catapulted him into the limelight and earned him the moniker Ahuti.
In a career spanning across 28 years Prasad went on to act in over 275 films essaying many memorable roles and won two Nandi awards — Best Villain for Ninnu Nenupremisthunna in 2003 and Best Character Actor for Chandamama in 2008. He also acted in Tamil and Kannada films and shared screen with Amitabh Bachchan in Sooryavansham in 1999. Prasad recently completed shooting for Anushka's Rudramadevi which was one of the last films he acted in.
Several Tollywood celebrities visited the actor's residence to meet the actor's family. His mortal remains will be kept at Film Chamber premises for people to pay homage, before the last rites are performed at Erragadda. He is survived by wife Nirmala, a son and a daughter.
