Vikram is again in the limelight now, for playing a dual role in Iru Mugan, directed by Anand Shankar. But its been a while since we saw the actor in a village backdrop. Now, the latest update is that Chiyaan has signed a rural-based film with director Socrates of Bramman fame, that had Sasikumar in the lead.
A source close to the director reveals to DC, “Yes, it is confirmed that Vikram will be playing the lead role in this rural mass entertainer and we have roped in Kajal Aggarwal as his romantic interest. The story is set in Tenkasi and we will go on floors in six months.”
The source also adds that this script was approved by the actor last October itself — “Vikram was impressed with the script, but he wanted the director to wait for a year till he completed Iru Mugan. He also asked the director to move on with another film as he did not want Socrates to wait doing nothing. But, as promised, Vikram called back a week before Iru Mugan's release and gave his official nod to the script.”
This untitled film will be on the likes of Saamy and Dhool ,and the actor will be sporting a moustache for his role in the film. Produced by Silverline Film Factory, the team is finalising the rest of the cast and technical team. The official announcement regarding the movie will be out in another week.
Recently, director Thiru announced that his film Garuda with Vikram has been postponed for undisclosed reasons. The 10 Enradhukulla actor also has Hari's Saamy 2 which is expected to commence by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Kajal Aggarwal, who is shooting for Thala 57 is awaiting the release of Kavalai Vendam with Jiiva.
