TN Cops solved Tamil Actress Sasirekha murder mystery

he case of a headless woman's body found in a garbage bin in Ramapuram had flummoxed the city police since January 5. On Friday, they said they have solved the murder. The body was of small-time film actor Sasirekha, police said. Her husband and his girlfriend, also an actor, killed her.

Police recovered the torso of Sasirekha from a bin. The head was recovered from a canal at Kundrathur after the accused gave police directions. Police identified the accused as Ramesh Sankar, 36, and Lawki iyaa Kaashiv, 32. They were picked up from a house in Valasaravakkam. "When there was no complaint about a missing woman of matching description , we suspected that the murder was a fallout of an affair," a police officer said.

A few weeks ago, a police team noticed that the mobile phone of Sasirekha, who had been under their watch following complaints she filed against her husband, was switched off for many days. However, when a police team inquired Sasi rekha's family members, they told police that their daughter had gone for a film shooting. Police found something amiss as she was not at her house in Madipakkam or her husband's place in Valsaravakkam. Their suspicion grew as Ramesh's mobile phone was switched off for many weeks.

Police teams tracked Ramesh and his girlfriend Lawki iyaa Kaashiv in a house in Valasaravakkam. During questioning, they admitted to the murder. They told police that they killed Sasirekha as she harassed Ramesh and prevented him from meeting Lawki iyaa. After inviting Sasirekha to Lawki iyaa's house, Ramesh hit on the head. He then cut away her head with a knife and wrapped the torso and head separately in plastic covers. He threw her head into a canal near Kundrathur before dumping the torso in a bin.

Sasirekha had acted in the lead role in the yet-to-be-released movie 'Naalai Mudhal Kudikka Maate in'. Lawki iyaa is acting in the lead role in an upcoming Tamil film titled 'Karuppasamy puram'.
