Actress Kajal Aggarwal has decided to 'amicably settle' the fall out with Tamil producer-turned-actor Udaynidhi Stalin, regarding the "repayment of advance of `40 lakh," paid to the actress by the producer. Udaynidhi lodged a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) demanding repayment of the advance paid to Kajal, after she was replaced by Nayanthara in, Nanbenda.
"We were not informed about the issue earlier by the producer. The TFPC has brought the issue to our notice and we are in discussions with Udaynidhi. An amicable settlement would be arrived at in a couple of days.Once we present our side of the issue, if it is decided that Kajal needs to repay any advance, she will do so," informs Kajal's manager.
It is learnt that the actress approached the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Film Artistes Association) to sort out the issue. Apparently, the actress was replaced at the last minute by the filmmakers after she blocked 40 days in January for the film. The filmmakers offered to cast her in another film under the same banner, in lieu of the advance paid. "When they signed Kajal, she had blocked 40 days from January 2014 for the film. Then, just 20 days before the shoot, they informed her that she was being replaced with Nayanthara. The reason given was that her film All in All Azhagu Raja didn't do well at the box office. However, later, they offered her another film under the same banner to compensate for the given advance. With this,we can make out that All in all Azhagu Raja's failure was not the real reason for Kajal being dropped from Nanbenda," says a source close to Kajal.
She believes that the production house must compensate for wasting her dates. "Kajal feels that her dates were wasted by the production house as she didn't commit those dates to another film after accepting this project. Even at the time of signing the film, it was clearly communicated that the advance paid was not refundable. She will be appealing to the Nadigar Sangam in this regard," adds the source.
Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi says, "I have nothing personal against Kajal and I don't know what her stand on the issue is. But as a producer, I've approached the TFPC to sort out the matter. We are hoping we can sort things out amicably."
