Kannada actress Sushma Raj, who recently made her Telugu debut with Maaya, is pleased with the response she recieved for her role in the film which was directed by Neelakanta. "I'm glad that my character connected with the audience. I got rave reviews and I am so thrilled. I never expected such a response for my debut film and I am loving being in Tollywood," says Sushma, who will soon be soon opposite Sundeep Kishan in her next Telugu film Joru. Recently, she made her Tamil debut with India vs Pakistan, in which she was cast opposite Vijay Antony. "I played a very chirpy role and I got to learn about how to emote in comic and sentimental scenes. It was a great experience," explains the fashion designing graduate.
Born and raised in Bangalore, she has acted in a couple of Kannada films — Madarangi and Chatrigalu Saar Chatrigalu. "I never thought of getting into films and it all happened unexpectedly. I got a call from a Kannada production house a couple of years back while I was designing for models. Initially, I was a little nervous but once I started getting offers, I've begun enjoying my work," Sushma adds.
