Q) Why have you been away from Tollywood for such a long time?
After 'Orey Pandu', I left to Mumbai and made 3 movies back to back. I met producer Bandla Ganesh during an event, and he convinced me to do Telugu films, saying that the Tollywood market has changed totally.
Q) Why you have chosen to remake 'Aashiqui 2' for your comeback film?
In Tollywood, I have only made love stories and after that I have tried thriller and action genres in Bollywood. So, I wanted to do a love story again, and what better film than 'Aashiqui 2' which became a huge hit in Bollywood.
Q) Have you made any changes in the script for this Telugu version?
There is a good feel in the original, and we didn't want to lose that feel. But the scenes have been changed to suit Telugu nativity.
Q) What is the reason behind choosing Jaya Ravindar as the director of this film?
When we zeroed in on 'Aashiqui 2', Bandla Ganesh suggested Jaya Ravindar for this film. In the beginning, I was afraid whether Jaya could do justice to the film, but once he changed the scenes and narrated us, I got a lot of confident in him.
Q) Is there any particular reason for choosing Nazia as the female lead?
Initially, we thought of roping in heroines like Samantha and Tamannaah. But as the whole film deals with the emotions of the lead pair, we decided to take a new face and selected Nazia. She has given a good performance which will be a major highlight of the film.
Q) Why did you take the decision of keeping the original songs in this film ?
Songs and music played a major part in Aashiqui 2's success. Therefore, we also repeated the same music so that the flavor and emotion would be the same.
Q) What do you feel is more difficult, making films or doing business?
Obviously, making a film is more difficult than doing business. Even if you do mistakes in business, you can correct them, but in films one should be careful right from the script to promotions of the film.
Q) What your future projects?
Currently, in Telugu there are two other films which are in discussions stages. I also want to remake 'Aashiqui 2' in Tamil.
With this we wrapped up our interview, wishing him a Very Happy Birthday in advance.
