Popular playback singer K J Yesudas expressed his opinion that women should not wear jeans as it reveals their vital body parts.
Yesudas who inaugurated the cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Campaign at Swathi Music College in Thiruvananthapuram on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi said that the beauty of women lies in her modesty and they should not wear jeans as it reveals their vital body parts.
He said “What should be covered should be covered. Our Indian culture values simplicity and amiability as the greatest assets of women. However when women put on jeans, men are tempted to look beyond that (jeans). Thus women should not trouble others by wearing jeans”.
He also said “Jeans is the dress of men and women should not try to become like men”.
Frustrated at his remark Mahila Congress State President Bindu Krishna termed Yesudas as anti-women.
She said “Yesudas is a great singer and all Indians are proud of his contribution to music. It is unfortunate that this sort of an anti-woman comment has come from him”.
