In 2012 and 2013, Pawan Kalyan was at the top slot in the industry. But in 2014, he did not have a release and this gave an opportunity for another star to get into the top slot.
Though many in the industry predicted that Mahesh will take on the slot, he could not make it due to two huge flops.
NTR missed the chance with Rabhasa while Charan’s Govindudu Andari Vaadele will be closing well within the Rs 40 crore mark, say industry insiders.
So, in what has come as a surprise to many, Allu Arjun has taken the top slot in the industry for 2014. Since there are no more big releases lined up for the rest of 2014, it has been confirmed that Race Gurram is the biggest hit of the year.
Incidentally, the film has secured the fourth position in all time top five hits with a market share of Rs 58 crore.
It has also proved that Bunny has it in him to take on the top four heroes. Also, once again, the top honour goes to the mega family.
After the success of Mahesh’s Dookudu in 2011, the mega heroes have made sure the top slot remains within the family.
