Ilayaraja Rejected The National Award 2016

Music maestro Ilayaraja who was nominated for the National award in the categoryof best background score for the movie “Tharari Thappattai”, was not happy and he did not attend the award ceremony in New Delhi. He rejected his nomination as he felt that he is not getting enough recognition for his music work. He said that since 2010, he received only one national award.

He is also unhappy and said that what is the need to split the music award into two categories, one for Best Music and second for Best background Score. He also asked why only he is nominated for background score not for best music. According to him, there should be only one category for music award. He has completed nearly 1000 movies as music composer in various Indian languages in his career over three decades.
