After surviving two failures (One Nenokkadine, Aagadu), superstar Mahesh Babu is naturally under immense pressure to deliver a blockbuster. At this junction, the star has safely escaped a "disaster" in form of Rudhramadevi where Mahesh turned down to do the came role of Gona Ganna Reddy, a warrior. Given that the just released trailer of Rudhramadevi turned out to be damp squib, and even Allu Arjun's part too didn't receive much applause as expected.
Although director Gunasekhar is close friend of Mahesh as the director's Okkadu cemented Mahesh's stardom in the industry and the duo's Arjun did moderately well, many have expected that Mahesh would fall into the trap of Guna and might accept the role of warrior Gona Ganna Reddy in Gunasekhar's forthcoming film Rudhramadevi. However, Mahesh played it very safe and escaped the 'danger'.
It can be noted that Gunasekhar had haunted Mahesh for longtime to do that role. In fact, Guna met Mahesh in London on the sets of One-Nenokkadine and asked Mahesh's time. All the efforts of Guna gone down the drain and they didn't yield fruitful results making way for Allu Arjun.
